What to eat and what not to eat,that is the question!

Eating Healthy is a big part of what you burn and what you keep on that sticks to your body, and what your body uses for fuel. Your body is very complex and needs the proper nutrients to keep it strong and healthy. Each part of your body needs certain nutrients and if it is not getting what it needs then it will draw from different parts of your body to get it which depletes that part of your body of proper nutrients. Make sense? So what you put into your body is very important.

Benefits of protiens-
helps growth, maintenance and repair of all cells
helps tissue, muscles, and organs
helps fight infection
gives energy to the body
it is a building block for muscles, skin, hair and fingernails.
*but be careful, too much protein will be stored as fat and can cause a stroke or heart attack.

Benefits of carbohydrates-
turn into glucose and is absorbed into the bloodstream to be distributed to the cells and muscles.
It gives our body energy (protein does this too, but it takes longer to break down)
Simple carbs that are good for us and give energy are fruits and milk because they have essential vitamins and minerals (simple carbs that are bad and non-beneficial is candy)
Complex carbs-grain products-bread, crackers, pasta and rice. Starches in these foods helps with the health of the colon and nourishes it.
eat only unrefined carbs. they contain vitamins and minerals that have not been taken out and are also rich in fiber.

    What you can eat:

Acceptable proteins: eat 2-3 servings per day

Lean beef, including steak, Roasts, stew meat and hamburger
lean chicken
lean turkey
lean buffalo and wild game- all lean cuts
eggs
fish, salmon, trout, haddock, orange roughy, swordfish (unbreaded)
*sparingly- not over one time per week for shrimp, lobster and crab
Mozzerella cheese
light swiss laughing cow cheese
low fat cottage cheese
greek yogurt
almonds
peanuts
pumpkin seeds
sunflower seeds
